22,000 full-service mooring place Since 1972 the Association has played a key role in the development of a network of pleasure boating facilities on the Adriatic Coast from Friuli to Puglia. Assomarinas vigorously promotes nautical tourism in the Adriatic Sea region by exhibiting at the Genoa and the other boat shows, partecipating in important national boating facilities meetings and cooperating with nationalItalian industry organization for tourism (FEDERTURISMO) and recreational marine equipment manufacturing (Ucina). The Association is a medium for the exchange of information and advice among its marina members helping them to furnish superior facilities and services to their customers. Thus, Assomarinas is well positioned to recognize the needs of marina operators and well versed to be able to communicate those needs to regional and national authorities. In this endeavor it is greatly assisted by Ucina with whom it is affiliated. As well, Assomarinas is a player on the world stage of recreational boating facilities and nautical tourism development and growth. It is represented on the Marinas Commitee of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (Icomia) and takes an active hand in organizing Icomia's triennal continuing international marina education conference program (Amsterdam 1993,Genoa 1996,Fort Lauderdale 1999; Sidney 2002, San Diego, California 9-12 january 2005 www.internationalmarinaconference.com). |
